A breath of fresh air …

Hello and welcome to our first blog post! We truly hope you enjoy reading it.

We have had a very busy first half of the year at Skidmore Electrical, which is terrific. We would like to take this opportunity to thank, you, our fantastic customer for your unwavering support, it is without doubt, very much appreciated!

This past month, we welcomed a new starter, Alfie, who has joined us as our new apprentice. We are sure you will join us in wishing Alfie all the best in his future with us as a budding apprentice electrician.

We aren’t sure if you already know, but we are TrustMark registered. We are extremely proud of this prestigious registration, we believe it not only signifies our approval by a government-endorsed scheme, but it also reflects our commitment to exceptional customer service here at Skidmore Electrical. August is already upon us and summer has finally arrived. But before we know it, the trees will be turning their beautiful shade of amber, satisfyingly crunching beneath our feet as we enjoy our delightful autumn walks. The nights will be slowly creeping in and we will all be ready to close our curtains, shutting the world out. Winter certainly brings all the cosiness! And let’s not forget those joyous and spectacular crisp winter morning sunrises—hardly any of us are awake early enough to truly appreciate them during summer.

Along with those cosy evenings on the sofa, surrounded by blankets, we are pretty certain we will all be turning our heating on and up! Winter hotpots, stews, and other comforting dishes will become staples in our kitchens. And let’s not forget our shower and bath habits, turning our bathrooms into saunas during those cold months—when we all desperately want to warm up! Unfortunately, our autumn and winter habits result in condensation, a very familiar sight in our British homes, especially during the colder months.

At Skidmore Electrical, we believe we have the solution: the Positive Input Ventilation System (PIV). What on Earth is a PIV, you may ask? Well, let us tell you all about this wonderful invention!

Positive Input Ventilation was developed to tackle ventilation issues in our homes. It works by continuously pumping fresh, filtered air into your house, while forcing stale air out through any gaps you may have in your property (yes … we all have them). Think of a PIV as a friendly fan that infuses your home with fresh air! The PIV unit is usually placed in the loft space, with a distribution diffuser in the ceiling below. And if you don’t have a loft space, don’t worry! There are versions that can be installed high on a wall, and they don’t look unsightly—we think they look quite sleek!

Now, let’s explore some of the benefits these small but mighty machines offer:

  1. Improved Air Quality: PIV dramatically enhances the air quality inside your home, reducing odours, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and pollutants that enter your house.
  2. Condensation Control: Dampness and condensation plague many homes, especially older properties. PIV helps combat these issues, keeping your home dry and cosy.
  3. Energy Efficiency: PIV systems are energy-efficient, making them a cost-effective choice for ventilation.
  4. Low Maintenance: PIV systems require minimal upkeep, saving you time and money.
  5. Minimal Noise: PIV operates silently, ensuring peace in your home—unlike noisy fans.

Food for thought… what do you think?
If you’re interested in a PIV or would like more information, please give us a call on 01427 338244. Paul will be more than happy to come and meet with you in your home for a free consultation, he will be able to advise you on the best location to install a PIV and provide all the relevant information, along with a quote!

That is all for this blog post. Look out for our next edition in the coming weeks!

From all of us here at Skidmore Electrical, we send you our warmest and kindest regards and we hope to hear from you very soon!
